What is a FR Data-Code?
Finance Royale Data-Codes are provided to assist in contest forecasting. Data-Codes are allocated to historical data categories specific to various tickers so that the participant may systematically call upon the values within another Excel sheet to be placed in a cell or a formula.
NOTE SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: Requires Microsoft Excel, PowerQuery and Solver Add-ins to update and download BIGDATA1_BETA2025 updated weekly. The BIGDATA1_LITE version does not have the PowerQuery update feature and will be limited to contest specific tickers and sector results.
Finance Royale Data-Code convention are named as follows:
CONCATENATE(Ticker, Data-Code)
EXAMPLES: To name call the assigned sector for META within the BIGDATA1_BETA2025 workbook, the formula would be:
"=METASECTOR" when BIGDATA1_BETA2025 is the workbook and the formula is inserted in any additional sheet within the BIGDATA1_BETA2025 workbook;
"=INDIRECT(CONCATENATE(A1,A2)" when the Ticker text "META" and Data-Code "SECTOR" are located in cells A1 and A2; and
"=BIGDATA1_BETA2025!METASECTOR" when BIGDATA1_BETA2025 is a concurrently open Excel workbook or contained in the same directory as the open Excel workbook.
The Sensitivity Data-Codes are defined as follows:
QSENS001 = Last Revenue Sensitivity for the prior collected 12 quarterly periods;
QSENS002 = Last Cost of Revenue Sensitivity for the prior collected 12 quarterly periods;
QSENS003 = Last Earnings Per Share Sensitivity for the prior collected 12 quarterly periods; and
QSENS004 = Last Number of Shares Sensitivity for the prior collected 12 quarterly periods.
The Quarterly Income Before Taxes Per Share including interest (QIBTS) with varying tax-adjustment Data-Codes are defined as follows:
QIBTS001 = Last QIBTS with Zero-Sensitivities Control and Sales-Tax Method;
QIBTS002 = Last QIBTS Per Share with All Last Sensitivities and Sales-Tax Method;
QIBTS003 = Last QIBTS with All Last Sensitivities and Standard-Tax Method;
QIBTS004 = Prior-Year QIBTS with Zero-Sensitivities Control and Sales-Tax Method;
QIBTS005 = Prior-Year QIBTS with All Last Sensitivities and Historical-Tax Method; and
QIBTS006 = Prior-Year QIBTS with All Last Sensitivities and Standard-Tax Method.
The Pseudo-CIK, sector, and industry Data-Codes are defined as follows:
PCIK = approximate matching of the SEC's unique identifier for a specific company name or otherwise assigned as "0" if cannot be matched;
SECTOR = Assigned sectors are Basic Materials, Consumer Discretionary, Consumer Staples, Energy, Finance, Health Care, Industrials, Real Estate, Technology, Telecommunications and Utilities; and
INDUSTRY = Assigned industries available once generally accepted and perfected. Otherwise will require one-time manual input with custom third-party industry classification data.
For the calculation of Sensitivities and QIBTS, the last collected reporting period Data-Codes are defined as follows:
LQREPORTPERIOD = Last collected Quarterly Report Period, stamped as YYYY-MM.
